About Milanka Brooks
Milanka Brooks was born in Regent’s Park, London, England to Mileva Brooks, a model, and Harry Brooks Jnr, an actor and writer.
She is best recognized for her 2018 role as Elena Tulaska in Black Mirror’s multi-Emmy Award winning episode, USS Callister, on Netflix, opposite Jesse Plemons, Cristin Milioti, Jimmi Simpson, Billy Magnussen, Osy Ikhile and Paul G Raymond. The episode's reception was overwhelmingly positive, with reviewers praising the allusions to Star Trek, the acting, and the cinematography. In 2018, the episode won four Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Television Movie and Outstanding Writing for a Limited Series, Movie, or Dramatic Special, and was nominated for three other Emmy Awards.
Milanka has written and is performing her solo show, Mum and I Don’t Talk Anymore, at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2024, directed by Ben Cavey (Producer of Bad Education, Jack Whitehall: Travels With My Father, Grandma's House and Psychobitches).
On making her Edinburgh debut Milanka said: “I’m so thrilled to be bringing my first solo show to this year’s Fringe Festival. For years I’ve been hoping to make a piece about my mother and the eccentricities of our relationship. As I created the piece, Edinburgh was always the ultimate goal as The Fringe is undoubtedly the home of the one-person show. I’ve ensured that as the audience meets Mum, and experiences our, sometimes wild stories, that they’ll also encounter a few other people along the way. This has become a character show with much humour and heart, and I’m excited to take the audience on a journey that I hope will not only entertain, but also bring plenty of passion, poignancy, and promise.”
Milanka is also recognized for her series regular role in Series 7 & 8 of ITV’s Benidorm, playing Johnny Vegas’ fiancée, Ionela, and for the role of Princess Svetlana of Sweden in Channel 4’s hit comedy series The Windsors.
